Toni Strand, RN, MA
Toni began her career as an Army nurse trained to provide medical support for our troops in Vietnam. Although she never deployed to Vietnam, she cared for many returning soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Later in her military career her Army Reserve Unit went on a tour of duty in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. Toni retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel after 26 years of proud service.
Early in her nursing career, Toni spent 8 years working in critical care units. While rewarding and illuminating, it was a stressful time, so she decided to shift gears and chose to begin helping people stay healthy and OUT of Intensive Care, which in her experience was frequently a result of poor lifestyle choices.
Toni continued her education by studying holistic health, consulting and training as part of her master’s degree in psychology. As a result, Toni incorporates a nice blend of conventional and alternative education and experiences in her work. Currently she is in the process of completing a PhD in holistic nutrition in an effort to further support her quest of assisting people toward optimal health.
She enjoys designing custom holistic wellness and nutrition programs that are based upon each clients and patients unique needs and goals. Toni loves working with the team of professionals at Arizona Prohealth who share ideas and strategies that create and maintain synergy and maximum benefits for their clients and patients.
Toni is also very skilled and experienced in the use of the phase contrast microscope which provides a real time examination of a person’s blood.
Toni has a greeat passion for working toward health and balance in her own life, which she considers a wonderful journey. She has exercised regularly for 32 years and currently does so at 6 am on most mornings with her identical twin sister, Diane. Her hobbies include photography and travel and one of her goals is to go on a photographic missionary trip in Africa.
Toni has a daughter who works for Microsoft in Washington State and she lives with her husband in Arizona, who is always a good sport about trying new and different healthy foods, many of which he actually enjoys!
